The powers to regulate the Food Safety and Standard Act, 2006 and Food Safety and Standards (Licensing and Registration of Food Businesses) Regulation, 2011 are vests in Food Safety and Standard Authority of India (FSSAI) under Ministry of Health & Family Welfare, Govt. For new applications from 1 April 2026, the published turnover bands are registration up to Rs. 1.5 crore, State licence above Rs. 1.5 crore up to Rs. 50 crore, and Central licence above Rs. 50 crore. Confirm your business activity and application route in FoSCoS.

Which documents should I prepare?

Does a cloud kitchen need FSSAI registration or a licence?

Yes. FSSAI guidance includes cloud kitchens without seating. The appropriate registration or licence depends on the applicable eligibility criteria and operating details.

Do the new rules remove ongoing compliance?

No. Perpetual validity does not remove hygiene, safety, testing or other applicable obligations. Check your own record and current portal requirements when business particulars change.
